Responsible designer for development of Preliminary, Main and Detailed Design: TZI – Inzenjering Ltd. Sarajevo
The construction of the new city pedestrian bridge Duga in the Municipality of Zavidovici, which reconnected the two banks of the river was completed in the last year. The project and construction of the new Duga bridge were done within the Emergency Flood Repair Project within component 2. The responsible designer for the development of the Preliminary, Main and Detailed Design was the company “TZI – Inzenjering Ltd. Sarajevo”.
The Duga pedestrian bridge is designed as a symmetrically suspended bridge over three spans with a dominant main span and two reinforced concrete pylons (approximately 19.00 m high), and a reinforced concrete slab of rectangular cross-section. The general arrangement of the pedestrian bridge is in accordance with the designed horizontal and vertical alignment, so that an economical solution is obtained, taking into account the high-water level of the river Bosna, and in accordance with applicable regulations, rules, standards, professional rules and new guidelines and recommendations accepted by Client.
The static length of the bridge is 96.00 m, and the total length taking into account the wings is 101.70 m.
The suspended assembly of the bridge consists of a reinforced concrete superstructure, “A” shaped concrete pylons and high-grade oblique tensioners, with lateral suspension in two planes and anchoring of tensions at the top of the pylon, and in anchor blocks. The bridge has a total of 24 tensions: 12 tensions within the main span of 70.0 m that connect the superstructure in equal sections, while the remaining 12 tensions are anchored in anchor blocks that are designed to form one unit with the abutments.
In order to improve the visual characteristics of the bridge, it is planned to install 12 LED reflectors, which will achieve the effect of illumination of the pylon and the lower contours of the superstructure. With the same goal of improving the aesthetic characteristics of the bridge, within the horticultural arrangement, the access zones were greened, with the installation of jardinieres and the planting of ornamental trees and low vegetation.
